Snohomish County Seeks Input on Possible Policy Amendments for the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update

Snohomish County is seeking public input on Phase IV of policy amendments being considered as part of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., March 1, 2023 - As part of the state mandated review and update to the county’s Comprehensive Plan, preliminary draft policy amendments will be released for public review in six phases. Each phase will include a 30-day public comment period where the public is encouraged to provide input on the draft policy amendments for one or more elements.

This is an early opportunity to review the draft policy amendments, and there will be further input opportunities at Planning Commission and County Council public hearings. The posted preliminary draft policy amendments during each phase will not be finished products. We would like your help to review these drafts so that they can be improved and better serve Snohomish County.

The 2024 Comprehensive Plan will include 12 elements, and the policies within each could be revised during this 2024 Update to better align with state laws and public input.  Phase IV begins on March 1st and includes the Urban Core Subarea and Housing Elements of the Plan as well as Urban Tree Canopy Policies. The timing for Phase IV and the remaining two phases is outlined in the table below.
