[ARCHIVED] Stilliguamish river rescue

Big Rock Park Arlington, Wash. – Patrol personnel responded to a call of a subject underwater in the area of Big Rock Park in Arlington.
On Sunday, June 28th a 911 call was received at about 6:04 pm about a subject in the water in the Stilliguamish river near Big Rock Park. At this point the subject had been underwater for about 3 minutes. The subject, a 21 year old male was swimming in the Stilliguamish river without a flotation device. The subject’s girlfriend called for help. There is indication that alcoholic beverages were involved.

Two bystanders jumped in the water to rescue him. After getting him out of the river, the bystanders started CPR. By the time the bystanders got him out of the water the subject had been underwater for about 15 minutes. Aid continued doing CPR and the subject is being airlifted to Harbor View hospital.
