[ARCHIVED] Student Art on display

The Arts Workshop Exhibit
Dec 1 – 31
Robert J. Drewel Building, Lobby
Business Hours

The Snohomish County Arts Commission is pleased to exhibit works of art by students of The Art Workshop fine art program in the lobby of the Robert J. Drewel Building through the month of December. The exhibit features pen and ink, acrylic on canvas and reverse glass painting from students whose ages range from 6 to adult. The exhibit is free and is open to the public during regular business hours.

The Art Workshop is an award-winning art program that teaches the basic fundamentals of fine art through principals of drawing, painting and sculpting using various mediums and techniques. The hard work and dedication of each student can be seen in each individual artwork, said Christine Awad Shmalz, art instructor and Snohomish County Arts Commissioner who coordinated the display. High school students who have completed these workshops have been admitted to prestigious art colleges in the U. S and have been awarded scholarships to further their arts education.

The Snohomish County Arts Commission proudly seeks opportunities to link Snohomish County citizens with cultural and artistic experiences. Established in 2004, the commission sets an annual program that includes the recommendation of art for public spaces, strengthens the creative economy through job referrals and promotion and initiates cultural programs for the enrichment of the community.
