Snohomish County Arts Commission Creates New Exhibit
Features Local Husband and Wife Photography Team

EVERETT, Wash., February 24, 2016 – The Snohomish County Arts Commission today announced a new exhibit of photographs by husband and wife team, Bill and Marlene Fritts. The exhibit will be hosted in the lobby of the Robert J. Drewel Building through the month of April. The Fritts’ have been photographing together for the past 6 years and each bring their own unique vision and experiences to their art while complimenting each other’s style.

“It has been our experience that in the fast paced, hurry-up lives that many of us lead, we may look at the world around us, but only to the extent that we don’t bump into something. Few of us take the time to really see what we are looking at. We hope our images show you something new, or at least offer a slightly different view of something familiar,” said Bill Fritts.

Bill got his start in photography 57 years ago when he was given a second hand camera by his grandparents. He was fascinated with the dials and numbers and the feel of the camera in his hands. He started his photography career by taking “make believe pictures.” His hobby turned into a job when he became the photographer not only for his high school paper but also the local newspaper. After high school, Bill joined the Navy where he was appointed the ship’s photographer on the USS Belmont. He worked on the USS Belmont until his discharge from the Navy.

Bill received his BFA degree in photography, worked as a medic at a local hospital, and later became a Corrections Officer for Snohomish County. When he retired, he picked up his camera again, and his wife, Marlene, asked if he would teach her. He found that Marlene had a natural talent for visualization and design. This exhibit is their first time showing their work together.

The Robert J. Drewel Building is located in downtown Everett at 3000 Rockefeller and Wall. The exhibit is free and is open to the public during regular business hours.
