Unplanned Staffing Shortages - Snohomish County Clerk's Office
The Snohomish County Clerk’s Office is alerting the public that an unplanned staffing shortage is occurring today, March 14, 2016.
County Clerk Sonya Kraski stated, “There have been rumors about a potential staff strike for some time, and unfortunately today it has come to that. There has been a longstanding pay issue impacting staff, which has not been resolved through labor negotiations.” Labor negotiations are handled by the County Executive’s office within parameters established by the County Council.
By law the Clerk’s Office must remain open while Superior Court is in session. Accordingly, there will be limited management staff on hand to address mandated functions until staffing levels return to normal. Pending further notice Clerk’s Offices’ hours of operation will be as follows:
3000 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett: 8:30 am - Noon and 12:45 - 4:30 pm
Denny Juvenile Justice Center, 2801 - 10th St., Everett: Closed
The public should anticipate long wait times at the Clerk’s Office customer service counter and be prepared for continuances of some hearings and trials. For trial or hearing information please contact Snohomish County Superior Court at 425-388-3421. Additionally, the following functions are cancelled until staffing levels return to normal:
- Family Law Facilitator appointments
- Protection Order assistance
- Telephone Services
“It’s regrettable that an impasse in labor negotiations involving staff whom are critical to court operations may have perpetuated this situation, and it is my desire that this be resolved quickly,” Kraski concluded.
