Judge Bruce I. Weiss began his service as a Superior Court Judge on December 10, 2007 after serving as a Court Commissioner for two years. He has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Indiana University – Bloomington. He received his law degree from the University of Montana in 1986. Prior to being appointed as Court Commissioner in October 2005, he maintained a sole private general litigation practice for 19 years. Some of his additional work experience included work as a contract attorney for the Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem program for approximately five years, a part-time contract prosecuting attorney for the City of Everett for seven and one-half years, and an adjunct faculty member for the paralegal and graduate programs for Edmonds Community College and City University. Judge Weiss was the Presiding Judge 2019-2021, which included the COVID-19 pandemic years. He was awarded Judge of the Year from the Snohomish County Bar Association for 2020. Judge Weiss served as the Trustee for District 3 for the Superior Court Judges Association (SCJA) from 2012-2015, Secretary for the SCJA 2015-2017, He also served on the SCJA Therapeutic Courts Committee and the SCJA Family and Juvenile Law Committee. After three years, he completed his teaching responsibilities at the State Judicial College. For our local Court he serves on numerous committees and has previously chaired the Drug Court and GAL Committees.
