The archery range is a 155-acre largely wooded property with few access roads off the Mountain Loop Highway south of the Town of Darrington. Snohomish County acquired this site in 1999 through a reconveyance from Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
The course has five ranges, including one that's wheelchair accessible. Snohomish County has an Interlocal agreement with the Town of Darrington to manage and operate the Darrington Archery Range. The town, in turn, has an agreement with the Darrington Archers Association to perform the day-to-day operations of the archery range.
The Range is the home turf of the Darrington Archers Club and has become the major destination for outdoor archery competition on the West Coast, hosting the national championships every three years since 1982. The tournament rotates with Yankton, South Dakota, and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The public is welcome to attend the competition as part of the National Field Archery Association's championship tournament.
