4. What is Snohomish County doing to save energy / gas and to keep the environment clean?

Snohomish County is purchasing fuel efficient vehicles from Washington State Office of Procurement contracts to include hybrid vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. We have received grants to retrofit diesel engines to reduce diesel emissions, and are using biodiesel and low sulfur diesel fuel to reduce diesel emissions and reduce our reliance on crude oil. Our remodeled fleet maintenance facilities provide better spill protection and improved maintenance capabilities.

6. How does my government agency contract for maintenance services with Public Works Fleet Management Division?

An intergovernmental agreement enabling Fleet Management to provide these services must be approved by the county executive and County Council as well as the management of the agency requesting services.

7. What kind of jobs are there at Fleet?

Automotive and diesel mechanics, storekeepers, traffic sign specialist, radio technicians, crew chiefs, equipment maintenance supervisors, secretarial staff, and a financial systems coordinator.
