  2. EVIDENCE SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS

    This form will allow you to submit evidence for your Board of Equalization (BOE) appeal. With this submittal, your evidence will be provided to both the BOE and the Assessor's office per WAC 458-14-066.

    Evidence may be submitted no later than 21 business days prior to your hearing. Evidence submitted past the deadline will not be added to your appeal file.

    Please combine files and mark pages/exhibits appropriately. Doing so ensures reviewers can clearly follow your evidence.

  4. What is proper evidence?

    Proper evidence includes:

    1. Comparable sales near the assessment date of January 1
    2. Estimates or bids from licensed contractors for work that needs to be done
    3. Robust documentation of deferred maintenance
    4. Documentation regarding restrictions on your property (easements, steep slopes, wetlands, etc.)

    Information that cannot be evaluated by the board, by law:

    1. Assessments of other properties
    2. Personal hardship
    3. Percentage of assessment increase
    4. Amount of taxes paid
  5. What file types are allowed?

    Files/types we can accept: 

    1. Text or narrative
    2. File types: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, xlsx, .jpg, .jpeg, .png

    Files/types we cannot accept:

    1. Links to other sites
    2. Videos (.mov, .wmv, .mp4, .avi, etc.)

  7. This is the person who filed the appeal, who owns the property, or who is authorized to handle appeal-related matters.

  8. If providing your petition number, it will be in this format: 0000-22A (four digits, dash, year, type), eg. 0346-22R. This number can be found on your petition receipt letter or hearing notice.

    If providing your parcel number, it will be 14 digits. This number can be found on your assessment notice, petition receipt letter, or hearing notice.

    Choose yes if this appeal is part of an economic unit of multiple parcels (usually commercial appeals).
