Tom Teigen is the Snohomish County Conservation and Natural Resources Director. He was previously the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department Director, a position he held since 2007.
Tom has served as an Executive Director, Parks Director, Manager of Community Programs and Services, and Recreation Supervisor in a 37-year career in the fields of Parks and Recreation and Economic Development.
Tom grew up in Lynnwood and has worked in 3 Cities, 2 Park Districts, and 2 Counties in the Seattle and greater Chicago areas. Tom's areas of expertise include parks and recreation administration, corporate partnerships, business/enterprise development and community building through strategic partnerships.
He is dedicated to the credo that “good government is a function of effective partnerships and empowered communities”.
Teigen leads the 79 fulltime parks, recreation and tourism professionals managing, maintaining and programming 121 park properties, 47 miles of shoreline and nearly 12,000 acres of Parks and Natural Areas. Snohomish County Parks hosts more than 5 million visitors each year and generates more than $45 million in positive economic impact for the region.
