Judge William Steffener was appointed to the Snohomish County Superior Court in the Spring of 2023, following his nearly 20-year career as an attorney in both the private and public sector.  He is especially proud to be the first Native American to serve as a Superior Court Judge in Snohomish County.


Before joining the Bench, Judge Steffener practiced law at Deno Millikan Law Firm, PLLC in Everett, with a particular emphasis on family law and civil litigation. As a public sector attorney, Steffener was a Snohomish County Deputy Prosecutor in its Municipal Law and Involuntary Treatment Act units for nine years. He was also an attorney for seven years with the Snohomish County Public Defender Association.


Judge Steffener currently serves on multiple state and local judicial committees. Steffener was the president of the Snohomish County Bar Association in 2013. A former Eagle Scout, Steffener was also an assistant Scout Leader with the Girl Scouts of America.


Judge Steffener has a particular appreciation for the great outdoors, he is an avid camper and fisherman in the summer and quite the snowboarder in the winter!


A graduate of the University of Montana School of Law, Judge Steffener earned his undergraduate degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham and graduated from Snohomish High School. Judge Steffener resides in Snohomish with his wife and daughter.
