About

Esperance Park is a 9.6 acre community park with athletic fields, sport court, Off Leash Dog Area (OLDA), playground and a Zip Line! Second growth forest with primitive trails covers the northwest corner of the park. Athletic fields include a little league baseball diamond and two practice areas for field sports.

Park History

The Esperance Park property was formerly owned by the Edmonds school district.  In the late 1980’s the land was to be surplused and sold for housing development. A community activist group, the Action Council for Esperance (ACE), successfully petitioned the County to acquire the site for a community park. Renovations and upgrades to the baseball field area were completed 2009.

In 2016, the adjacent 3.4 acre parcel was purchased from the Edmonds school district and a  significant renovation of the park was completed May 2020. This included new accessible walking path network, off-leash dog area, parking lot playground replacement sport court and gathering space, a new community garden and pea patch, forest playground, and trail enhancements. Renovation of Esperance Park was substantially completed in May 2020, with a final project cost of over $1.4 million. 1% for the Arts went towards the artwork "Seed of Hope" that was unveiled March 12, 2022.
